INTERSCHOOL ENVIRONMENT FILM FEST 2023 | ECOGEN

We enjoy watching our favourite movies, scrolling through reels, or laughing at amusing advertisements. Films and videos have a powerful impact and can influence our thoughts and actions.

Thus, EcoGen presents you, Film Fest 2023, an opportunity to showcase your talents as we aim to spread awareness about some pressing environmental concerns. This interschool competition allows students to make their films and videos and bring their change to this world.

There are 5 categories under which you can submit your entries: Film, Photography, Reel, Advertisement, and Music Video. Every participating school should submit a maximum of 5 films and 5 photographs and any one out of the three: reel, advertisement, and music video.

Winning schools would be awarded under the Juniors group (grades 6-8/years 7-9) and the Seniors group (grades 9-12/years 10-13).

MANDATORY:

1. Film

• The film should be based on any one of the following themes:
  • The World in 2050
  • Inspiring Change
  • Diving Deep
• The short film should be max. 15 minutes long.
• The film can be made using one or many of the following forms of cinematography: Live Action, Documentary, Animation, Stop Motion, or Mockumentary.
• Credits are mandatory.
• Acceptable formats: MPG, MP4, WMV or MOV
• Every film must have a poster designed for it.
• Each school is to submit a maximum of 5 films. It is recommended to submit films of different forms.

2. Photography

• The capture should be under any one of the following themes:
  • Literature (a capture that represents a line or the plot of a story, poem, or play)
  • The Gifts of Nature
  • Natural Monochrome
• Images should not be larger than 10 MB. Photos must be in JPEG format.
• You must provide a title and a short description of the photograph.
• Basic editing (cropping, filters, brightness, etc.) is permitted.
• Each school is to submit a maximum of 5 photographs.
  

ANY ONE:

3. Reel

• You may choose any one of the following themes:
  • Festivals and the Environment
  • Heal the World
• The reel should not exceed 60 seconds.
• Ensure that the reel is filmed in portrait.
• It can be of any form (live-action, animation, etc.)

4. Advertisement

• You should create an environmentally beneficial product or service and advertise the same.
• The advertisement should be a maximum of 90 seconds long.
• It can be of any form (live-action, animation, etc.)

5. Music video

• You can make a music video for an existing or self-composed song.
• The music video must express an environmental message even if the chosen audio does not.
• It should be at most 3 minutes.

Participation certificates will be provided for all the submissions.

General rules and guidelines:

• Eligibility criteria:
  • Juniors:  Grade 6-8 (Year 7-9)
  • Seniors: Grade 9-12 (Year 10-13)
• The themes can be interpreted to your creative imagination. However, ensure that your entries have environmental relevance.
• All entries must be original. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
• Any music, images and footage used must be the student’s creation. If the student is using any other source, they must check whether they have permission to use the items. Students must credit the necessary people and submit the links to the source of music at the time of submission without fail.
• Subtitles are not compulsory but are preferred for entries with dialogue.
• All entries must be in English only.
• Ensure the usage of appropriate content, songs, and audio.
• The films and videos can be of any genre according to your convenience.
• Failure to abide by the rules will lead to the disqualification of the submission.
