RENDEZVOUS WITH MINA GULI

As Barack Obama once said, “We are the first generation to feel the impact of climate change and the last generation that can do something about it.”

Delhi Private School Sharjah has inexorably woven its palpable presence into the wide tapestry of the band of environment crusaders. As water is an intrinsic part of the environment, we have partnered with vociferous champions of water protection at multiple levels.

A visit by Ms. Mina Guli, the founder, and CEO of Thirst, on Wednesday 25th October 2023 created a lasting impact on students. Ms. Mina Guli, who is a global leader committed to making a difference in the world, shed light on her life story, her runs for the cause of water in diverse terrains of the world, the significance of clean water and the paramount importance of community movements to save the environment. We commemorated the profound spirit of collaboration, excellence, and diversity that defines our institution. The event served as a platform to recognize the extraordinary potential of communities as catalysts for transformative change and positive impact. We reflected on our achievements, highlighting the extensive reach of our collaborative efforts that extend beyond our school’s boundaries. Notably, we emphasized the importance of nurturing the passion for environmental stewardship among our students and the belief in the capacity for positive change.

Middle School Headmistress, Ms. Adeeba Waseem, who is herself a passionate advocate of environment protection and one of the 11 Country Captains from the school, highlighted the need for collective action to catalyze a meaningful impact. Ms. Adeeba extolled the Principal and Director, Ms. Vandana Marwaha, whose visionary approach is instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of DPS Sharjah. The tireless, laudable work of the members of the environment committee, led by Dr Aishwarya Raina and Ms. Vandana Dadhwal was appreciated.

An inspiring song, based on the theme of making a difference, embellished the programme. The country captains shared their incredible journey for a noteworthy cause.

At the heart of the event was the renewal of our commitment to participating in future water runs and the expression of our eagerness to deepen collaboration with Ms. Mina’s Thirst Foundation. With this renewed dedication, we aim to amplify the voice of water and ensure that its echoes resonate far and wide, inspiring a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future. The insightful session concluded with the vote of thanks by Sashini Manikandan.
