DPS Sharjah Students Take Root at Al-Munathar

Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.– Warren Buffett

On January 29, 2025, twenty of our students from across all four phases lived out this famous wisdom. In a collaborative effort with the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA), our students headed to the Al-Munathar Protected Area in Al Bataeh to get their hands in the soil and their hearts into sustainability.

While classroom learning is vital, nothing compares to the experience of planting a tree in a protected area. This initiative allowed our students to see themselves as active participants in the UAE’s ecological preservation. By planting native species, they learned how afforestation acts as a natural shield against climate change and a sanctuary for local biodiversity.

This wasn’t just a field trip; it was a commitment. Our students returned with a deepened sense of environmental responsibility, ready to advocate for the nature they personally helped to restore.
