Embedding Climate Knowledge in Pedagogy for a Sustainable Future
On February 21, 2025, the Primary Wing (Phase 2) of DPS Sharjah became a hub of innovation as over 30 teachers gathered for a transformative workshop: Embedding Climate Knowledge in Pedagogy.
Expert Perspectives The session was headlined by two global voices in sustainability: Ms. Deepa Ananthapadmanabhan and Mr. Sanju Soman (UN Climate Youth Leader) from the Sustera Foundation. Their dynamic approach challenged our faculty to look at the curriculum through a “green lens.”
Highlights of the Workshop:
Eco-Literature & Arts: Using storytelling and poetry to connect emotionally with environmental issues.
Climate Math & Science: Analyzing real-world climate data and conducting sustainability experiments.
Subject Integration: Strategies to ensure climate education isn’t just a “separate topic,” but woven into the fabric of every subject.
As Ms. Anjum Hasan noted in the vote of thanks, this workshop wasn’t just about professional growth—it was about our collective responsibility to the planet and the UAE 2031 Vision.
