Life is a beautiful tapestry, but once you start pulling too many strings out, it ruins the picture and we lose balance in nature. Jane Goodall’s nature centric philosophy has translated into the origin of the Roots and Shoots movement that started in 1991, which branched out to the UAE in 2011.
Today, with over 150 member schools, the Roots and Shoots program has blossomed into a budding ecological initiative to inspire the youth of our country and around the world
DPS Sharjah is proud to have been shortlisted among the Top 10 schools in the UAE for their impeccable impact among the people, animals and the environment.
The event marked the celebration of communities coming together and showcasing resilience through the pandemic, which was the theme of the Roots and shoots Awards 2022-23.
Alisha Rebecca Zacharia, Meer Shamdasani, Safaa Mariam and Lishal Zacharias represented DPS Sharjah at the DP World pavilion, at EXPO City Dubai, on the 26th of January 26, 2023. They had the pristine opportunity to meet Dr. Jane Goodall and Tara Golshon, where showcased our school’s impeccable contributions to the environment, to wellbeing and to our school community.
Events such as the Water Box, Light it Forward, the Sweater Donation Campaign, Sweat for soap, R U OK day and mental health awareness week were among the many topics that were discussed during the presentation.
The event ended with Dr. Goodall’s keynote speech, addressing global topics that matter to us, to the country and to the world.
