FLASH MOB – FEB 2024

“We are the first generation to feel the effect of climate change and the last generation who can do something about it.” – Barack Obama.

We the teachers and students of DPS Sharjah are doing our part to increase awareness about the environment. On the 3rd of February 2024, a flash mob event hosted by the environment club of our school, EcoGen, was held in Mega Mall, Sharjah.

Many months in the making, this event was the first of its kind. The purpose of the initiative was to spread awareness about the omnipresent threat of climate change via flash mobs. There were performances by girls and boys of grades 9. They performed energetically on a mix of meaningful songs and foot-tapping tracks. The students even addressed the crowd that had gathered in between the performances, highlighting the purpose of the event.

The EcoGen team, consisting of many teachers and students, worked tirelessly and the performers invested countless hours of practice to perfect every step which made this event a huge success. As Leonardo DiCaprio said, “Raising awareness on the most pressing environmental issues of our time is more important than ever”, and our school is working towards doing exactly that.

This is certainly not the only event to take place in this initiative, and you can expect more very soon!
