Turning Ink into Impact: Our Students Collect Over 8,250 Pens for Recycling!

We are thrilled to share some incredible news regarding our recent sustainability efforts! Our school recently participated in the BIC plastic pen recycling challenge, and the results are officially in.

In an email from Ella Clemits at DGrad, it was confirmed that our students went above and beyond, collecting over 8,250 plastic pens for recycling.

Why This Matters

Plastic pens are often overlooked in standard recycling bins, frequently ending up in landfills where they can take hundreds of years to decompose. by collecting over 8,250 pens, our students have:

  • Prevented a significant amount of plastic waste from entering our ecosystems.
  • Contributed to the circular economy by providing materials that can be repurposed.
  • Demonstrated that small, everyday items can lead to a massive collective impact.
